Background:	WRKY44/TTG2 is a WRKY transcription factor regulating trichome, seed coat, and atrichoblast formation. It is expressed in the seed integument and endosperm. Mutants are defective in proanthocyanidin synthesis and seed mucilage deposition, resulting in yellow seeds. Seed size is reduced only when the mutant allele is maternally inherited.
